Jake Matthews will return to Texas A&M for senior season

The Aggies will not have to replace both of their bookend offensive tackles next year, as Matthews has opted to return for another year in College Station.

Texas A&M received a boost for the 2013 season on Thursday when offensive tackle Jake Matthews announced that he is returning for his senior season in College Station. Matthews wasn't expected to declare for the NFL Draft, but it's still a relief for the Aggies to have him back. Left tackle Luke Joeckel declared for the NFL Draft earlier this week, and having to replace both starting tackles is an unenviable task. Matthews is expected to shift over to left tackle to take over for Joeckel, after playing the 2012 season at right tackle.

Matthews was a key cog in an offense that was third in the nation in total offense this past season, putting up over 558 yards per game. A Third Team AP All-American in 2012, Matthews comes from a strong lineage of offensive lineman, as he is the son of NFL Hall of Fame offensive tackle Bruce Matthews.
